Representative of the Russian Embassy in the UK visited British farms

On 9-10 November Mr. Vladimir Derbenskiy, agricultural attaché of the Russian Embassy visited farms in the Midlands (Shropshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire). Meetings with members of the House of Commons, Vice-President of the National Farmer Union (NFU) Adam Quinney and a number of British farmers took place. 

Mr. Quinney shared information on the NFU and methods used by British farmers to achieve the high result in the livestock production. Special focus was made on the new technologies used in the British agricultural industry.

On 12-14 August Attaché of the Embassy Vadim Retyunskiy presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Kenneth Robert WALPOLE, Mr Victor George GUBBINS, Mr William TAIT, Mr James Bell CAIRMS, Mr Peter Eric Noel GRIFFITHS, Mr Frederick Francis HARSANT, Mr William Gilbert TEBBUTT, Mr David Llewelyn REES, Mr Alan Frank HIRST, Mr Robert Charles MULLANEY and Mr Peter James Eric EDWARDS, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Visit to the Bailiwick of Guernsey

On 12-14 August counsellor of the Embassy Konstantin Shlykov presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans, resident in the island of Guernsey, Mr Ian Clive MACINTYRE, Harry Lawrence WOLLEY, Ragot Chatterton WOOD, Frederick Levi DARBY, Charles Frederick Thornton POYNDER who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII. Mr Shlykov also held working meetings at the Government of Guernsey and Channel Islands Occupation Society regarding honouring the memory of Soviet citizens who perished in Guernsey between 1941-1945.

On the 27 July Baroness O’Caithain hosted a celebration jubilee tea at the House of Lords to mark the tour of Bolshoi Ballet and 60 anniversary of the first Bolshoi tour in London.

On 7th July 2016 Consul General Mr Andrey A. Pritsepov presented the “The 70th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War” Medal and a personalized officer wrist watch “VOSTOK” of the Veteran Mr Thomas William Hunt to his son Mr Keith White Hunt.
