Representative of the Russian Embassy in the UK visited British farms
On 9-10 November Mr. Vladimir Derbenskiy, agricultural attaché of the Russian Embassy visited farms in the Midlands (Shropshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire). Meetings with members of the House of Commons, Vice-President of the National Farmer Union (NFU) Adam Quinney and a number of British farmers took place.
Mr. Quinney shared information on the NFU and methods used by British farmers to achieve the high result in the livestock production. Special focus was made on the new technologies used in the British agricultural industry.
Deputy Prime Minister A. Dvorkovich and Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Edward Davey met in London to discuss UK - Russian cooperation in the energy sphere.
On 6 June 2013 an official reception was held at the Russian Embassy in London on the occasion of the national holiday – Russia Day. Among the numerous guests were MPs, senior officials of UK Government departments and local authorities, cultural and business personalities, diplomats stationed in London, journalists, members of the Russian community.
On 1 June 2013, Sabantuy organized by Tatar community of the United Kingdom under the auspices of the Russian UK Community Council was celebrated in London for the second time. The event was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy. Singer Aidar Galimov, who arrived from Russia specially for the event, performed in front of the public.
On 26 May 2013 Ambassador of Russia to the UK Alexander Yakovenko visited Liverpool to participate in the Battle of the Atlantic 70th Anniversary commemorations. During the visit he attended the official Commemoration Service at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral where he met with Princess Anne. After the Service he attended the parade of veterans and international warships’ companies.
On 21 May 2013 the exhibition “Canvas of my soul” of the Russian painter and poet Natalia Ovsienko was opened at the London office of Rossotrudnichestvo.
On 21 May 2013 the meeting of the Business 20 Organizing Committee, comprised of chairmen of the G20 countries entrepreneurs' unions, took place at the Russian Embassy in London. Russia was represented by the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) and the 2013 B20 Chairman Alexander Shokhin.
On 14-15 May 2013 the Kensington Town Hall hosted 54th International Spring Fair. The Russian Embassy along with other members of London's diplomatic community took part in this charity event.
On 12–15 May the Delegation of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Information Policy of the Council of Federation comprising Gennady Savinov and Lyudmila Bokova visited London.
On 9 May 2013, a wreath laying ceremony took place at the Soviet War Memorial near the Imperial War Museum in London. A reception for the veterans of the Arctic Convoys was held aboard HMS Belfast.
On 3 May 2013 the Russian Ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko visited the city of Stratford-upon-Avon. He met with Keith Lloyd, Mayor of the city, and discussed issues of cultural cooperation and implementation of potential cultural projects in 2014.
