On 28 November 2012 within the framework of Russian State Duma delegation visit to the UK the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee Alexey Pushkov held a press conference at the Residence of the Russian Ambassador in London for the British and Russian media, at which he answered the questions of the journalists.

Ushakov Medals presented to 10 British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Dorchester

On 4 July, Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy Mr Tikhon Kirichenko presented Ushakov Medals to 10 British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Dorset, who had been awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal bravery and courage in WW2.

On 5 July the Residence of the Russian Ambassador to the UK hosted a performance by the renowned Russian baritone, People’s Artist of Russia Dmitri Hvorostovsky. The artist performed pieces from his operatic repertoire. After the concert, a reception in honour of Dmitri Hvorostovsky was given.

Ushakov Medal presented to British Arctic Convoys veteran Mr Joseph Jeffries

On 26 June Attaché of the Embassy Elizaveta Vokorina presented the Ushakov medal to the Arctic Convoys veteran Mr Joseph Jeffries from Warrington, who was awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for his personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Sabantuy in London

On 27 June UCL hosted the fourth Sabantuy in London. Sabantuy is the traditional holiday of Tatar and Bashkir people in Russia, originally celebrated after the end of the sowing season. Sabantuy includes songs, national food, sports and fun competitions. Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko and Deputy PM of tatrstan Ravil Akhmetshin addressed the guests.

On 25 June 2015 the exhibition of photographs by renown Russian photographer Vladimir Mishukov was opened in Edinburgh at the St Mary’s Cathedral with the support of the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh.

Private performance of musicians Boris Andrianov and Rem Urasin at the Russian Embassy in London

Famous world-renowned Russian artists and brilliant musicians: Grammy award nominee violinist Boris Andrianov and his star friend pianist Rem Urasin performed at the Russian Embassy in London on 18 June 2015. The musicians performed a unique project Music Grand Tour with a Domenico Montagnana, which gathers miniatures by the two great Russian composers: Rachmaninov and Shostakovich.

On 12 June 2015 a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Russia was hosted by the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh. The event was attended by the representatives of the Scottish Parliament and Government, local authorities, business, academia and Russian community, as well as the Veterans of the Great Patriotic War and the Arctic Convoys.
