Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko conferred Diplomat of the Year award

On 20 April the annual Diplomat Awards ceremony was held in London, at which Russian Ambassador Dr Alexander Yakovenko was conferred the Eurasian Diplomat of the Year prize. On behalf of the Ambassador Counsellor Ivan Volodin received the award.

Ushakov Medals presented to three British veterans of the Arctic Convoys

On 17 April Attaché of the Russian Embassy Elizaveta Vokorina presented the Ushakov Medals to three Britons – Mr Leslie ATKINSON, Mr Stanley HARRISON and Mr Douglas EYRES, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed during the service in the Arctic Convoys in WWII.

Ushakov medals presented to 31 British veterans of the Arctic Convoys

On 20 April Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko presented the Ushakov medals, as well as commemorative medals “70 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945” to thirty-one British veterans of the Arctic convoys at a ceremony in his residence.

Ushakov Medal presented to the British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Glasgow

On 8 April 2015 Ushakov Medal was presented to the veteran of the Arctic Convoys Mr William Pickering by the Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov ‘for personal courage and valour shown during the World War II while participating in the Arctic Convoys' in accordance with the Russian President's Decree No 131 of 10 March 2014. The ceremony that took place in Glasgow was also attended by the Deputy Lord Provost Gerard Leonard and Councillor Allan Stewart.

Ushakov Medal presented to the British veterans of the Arctic Convoys on the Isle of Skye

On 9 April 2015 Ushakov Medal was presented to the veteran of the Arctic Convoys Mr Norman MacLeod by the Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov ‘for personal courage and valour shown during the World War II while participating in the Arctic Convoys' in accordance with the Russian President's Decree No 131 of 10 March 2014. The ceremony that took place in Portree, Isle of Skye, was also attended by Councillors John Gordon, Drew Millar and Ian Renwick of the Highland Council.

Ushakov Medal presented to the British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Edinburgh

On 7 April 2015 Ushakov Medal was presented to the veteran of the Arctic Convoys Mr Andrew Fergus by the Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov ‘for personal courage and valour shown during the World War II while participating in the Arctic Convoys' in accordance with the Russian President's Decree No 131 of 10 March 2014. The ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Russia in Edinburgh.

Presentation of Ushakov Medals to the Scottish veterans of Arctic Convoys in Inverness

On 8 November 2014 the Ushakov Medals were presented in Inverness to ten British veterans of the Arctic Convoys residing in Scotland by the Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov. The military decoration was awarded to the veterans for their “personal courage and valour shown during the World War II while participating in the Arctic Convoys” in accordance with the Russian President's Decree No 131 of 10 March 2014. Lord-Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty Mrs Janet Bowen, Provost of Inverness Alex Graham, Member of the Scottish Parliament Mr Rob Gibson MSP took part at the ceremony as well as Russia’s Assistant Naval Attaché Igor Elkin and Chief of Staff at the Royal Navy HQ Scotland and Northern Ireland Mr Mark Buchan-Steele.

The military decoration was awarded to the veterans for their “personal courage and valour shown during the World War II while participating in the Arctic Convoys” in accordance with the Russian President's Decree No 131 of 10 March 2014. Lord Provost of Aberdeen George Adam took part at the ceremony as well as Russia’s Assistant Naval Attaché Igor Elkin and Chief of Staff at the Royal Navy HQ Scotland and Northern Ireland Mr Mark Buchan-Steele.

Lord Provost of Glasgow Sadie Docherty and the city’s Depute Lord Provost Gerald Leonard took part at the ceremony as well as Russia’s Assistant Naval Attaché Igor Elkin and Chief of Staff at the Royal Navy HQ Scotland and Northern Ireland Mr Mark Buchan-Steele.
