Damage inflicted to the Russian Embassy in London as a result of 16/17 August attack

In the night 16/17 August 2012 the consular section of the Russian Embassy in London was attacked by a mob chanting slogans against the Syrian government and throwing stones towards the building. Several windows were broken, there has been a significant damage to the house. Fortunately none of the Embassy staff were injured.

On 27-31 July the delegation of the Government of Moscow headed by the First deputy Head of Department of Transport and Development of Road and Transport Infrastructure of Moscow Gamid Bulatov visited London. Head of Moscow Metro Dmitry Pegov, deputy Head of Department for Foreign Economic Activity and International Relations of Moscow Ilya Kuzmin and Head of State Unitary Enterprise “MOSGORTRANSNIIPROJECT” Mikhail Solntsev participated as well.

Ushakov Medal presented to the Arctic Convoys Veterans

On 24 July Attaché of the Embassy Elizaveta Vokorina presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Sidney Eric RUSSEL and Mr Redvers Lancelot THOMAS in Gloucestershire, who was awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Ushakov Medal presented to the Arctic Convoys Veteran Mr Kenneth Bird

On 3 July Attaché of the Embassy Elizaveta Vokorina presented the Ushakov medal to the Arctic Convoys veteran Mr Kenneth BIRD, who was awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for his personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

The Russian Embassy in London has donated the leading British history and linguistic research institutions with the reprint copy of "Illuminated Chronicles of Ivan the Terrible", courtesy of the Russian MFA.

On 13 July 2015 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov presented to the son of the World War II Arctic Convoys Veteran Mr Alexander Gibson Wilson of Port Seton the Ushakov medal that his father was awarded for his bravery during the service at the Convoys.

On 4 July, Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy Mr Tikhon Kirichenko presented Ushakov Medals to 10 British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Dorset, who had been awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal bravery and courage in WW2.

Dmitri Hvorostovsky sings at the Russian Embassy in London

On 5 July the Residence of the Russian Ambassador to the UK hosted a performance by the renowned Russian baritone, People’s Artist of Russia Dmitri Hvorostovsky. The artist performed pieces from his operatic repertoire. After the concert, a reception in honour of Dmitri Hvorostovsky was given.
