“Digital barbecue” at the Russian Embassy in London

On 13 October 2011 the Russian Embassy in London welcomed top British and local Russian-speaking bloggers and social media activists for a discussion on the role of social media in modern politics in the UK and elsewhere, e-government and diplomacy. The guests were greeted by the Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko. A lively discussion, tweeted live with the hashtag #digitalbbq, was followed by an informal reception at the Ambassador’s residence.
The Embassy remains committed to engagement with the thriving British online community.

On 21 July, in the run-up to Prime Minister David Cameron’s discussing the situation in Ukraine in Parliament Russian Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko met with a number of MPs to explain the Russian approaches to the situation in that country.

On 19 July, the Russian Ambassador, Alexander Yakovenko, met the Political Director of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Sir Simon Gass, on the latter’s initiative.
