Historical plaque dedicated to Tsar Nicholas I unveiled in ScotlandOn May 24 in Moffat a commemorative plaque to the Russian Emperor Nicholas I was inaugurated. It is installed in the same hotel where he stayed during the trip to Scotland 200 years ago - in 1816.
The festive event was attended by Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov who noted in his speech the close ties that unite Russia and Scotland for centuries.
The event was arranged by Charity organization GYRE headed by novelist and script writer Elisabeth Roberts.
The inauguration was also attended by Chair of of the Moffat Council B.Opray, representatives of the City Council and the local community.
