CHERNYSHEV Ivan Grigor’evich

Years of life 1726 – 1797.

Count, statesman.

In 1741 he was attached to the Russian mission in Copenhagen, since February, 1742 he worked in Berlin.

In 1762 he became a fleet general lieutenant, in 1763 – a member of Admiralty Board whom he nominally remained up to his appointment the ambassador plenipotentiary in London in 1768.

According to the instructions he had powers to carry on negotiations and to sign the alliance treaty with Great Britain.

In August, 1769 he was recalled from London.

Awarded the order of St. Andrew and diamond signs of the same order.
