Russian Embassy comment on the statement of the UK Embassy in Moscow

Q.:    Could you comment on the statement of the UK Embassy in Moscow with regard to the Russian visa fees, etc.?

A.:    We cannot agree with this kind of cherry picking. Upon objective assessment, it becomes obvious that our current tariffs are clear and simple: the fee depends on the number of entries and processing time of a regular single, double and multiple entry visas, single and double entry transit visas, as well as temporary resident visas.

The British side, on the other hand, charges various fees for dozens of various types of visas with amounts ranging from $ 120 to $ 4388 per visa, excluding priority service, i.e. expedited processing.

See for yourselves. Detailed information is available here:

https://www.rus.rusemb.org.uk/data/doc_russia/tariff2017/pdf (point VII)

With relation to periods of time for which visas are valid, the statement of the British Embassy in Moscow can hardly be viewed as appropriate, since this matter is regulated by the Russian law.

On a broader scale, we still have an imbalance when it comes to visa processing times for citizens of the two countries. Standard processing time for the British side to issue visas in Russia is 15 business days, but may take longer. While in London, the maximum processing time for British applicants does not usually exceed 5 business days. We expect that the British Embassy in Moscow will reduce the processing time of visa applications of Russian citizens. This would promote favorable conditions for both business and tourist trips, and allow them to grow in number.
