On 24 November the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism organised the road-show presentation of a number of Russian cities’ tourist and investment potential ahead of the World Football Championship in Russia in 2018. The event, took place in London, attracted attention of a broad cross-section of the British business interested in developing of mutually beneficial economic cooperation, tourist and football fans communities, facilitated the establishment of direct contacts and ties.

Russia has always paid a significant attention to developing tourist potential of the country and attracting foreign guests. Russian Government closely cooperates with tourist business community on improvement of conditions for foreign tourists traveling to Russia. For the last several years huge work has been done in terms of tourist infrastructure construction and modernization. One of the most obvious examples is our Black Sea Resort Sochi, the host of the last Winter Olympics. That city has been completely transformed and now possess all the facilities for high-class recreation especially for winter sports. Let’s not forget about recently built Formula One track in Sochi, which is an additional attraction for tourists.

Currently we are actively preparing to hold the World Football Championship in Russia in 2018 and we believe that participation in associated projects could be of interest for the British companies and investors. Russia will offer to the foreign visitors the most friendly and dynamic possible experience of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Spectators, athletes and officials will enjoy a rich and varied experience amid the unique geography and diverse cultures of the host regions and cities. By the way, Sochi is one of the 11 host-cities. The final matches of the FIFA Confederation Cup, took place in Russia in 2017 on the venue of the stadiums, participating in 2018 World Cup, demonstrated the huge organisational success, expertise and hospitality of Russian people involved in that matter. Delegations and football fans from all participating teams’ countries have been extremely positive about the reception they have received in Russia. It is a quite illustrative example.
