On 27 May Third Secretary of the Embassy Vadim Retyunskiy presented the Ushakov medal to the Arctic Convoys veteran Mr William BRYANT who was awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for his personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

25.05.2018 - Embassy Press Officer’s response to a media question about the investigation of the death of Nikolay Glushkov

Q: How would you comment on the investigation by British authorities of the death of Mr Nikolay Glushkov? A: Unfortunately, British authorities continue to refuse to cooperate on the investigation of the mysterious death on 12 March in London of former Deputy Director General of “Aeroflot” Mr Nikolay Glushkov. On 24 April, the Embassy sent to the Home Office an official request of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation on legal assistance in the criminal case on the death of Mr Glushkov. However, there has been no reply. This amounts to a disregard by the British side of their obligations under the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters of 1959.

On 25 May 2018 the Russian Ambassador Yakovenko hosted the first 11 winners of the #Russia2018Quiz on Embassy’s Twitter account @RussianEmbassy, dedicated to the FIFA World Cup, to be held in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018. Our guests come from various cities of England, Scotland and Germany. The winners received prizes – full set of official World Cup merchandise - from the Ambassador and enjoyed an exclusive tour of the residence.

24.05.2018 - The Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018

Today in Saint Petersburg, the traditional International Economic Forum will start its work. SPIEF is one of the key international discussion platforms for the global and regional economic trends and challenges. Heads of states and governments, prominent public leaders, heads of international organizations and major companies, leading world experts and analysts as well as numerous media representatives attend the event. The last year’s SPIEF was a record high in terms of the number of participants – over 14 thousand people. 475 investment agreements totaling $30 bn were signed.
