11.09.2017 - Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at a meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi, Amman, September 11, 2017

We started our discussions yesterday, they were very friendly and open, as it should be between friends. The relationships are very solid; they are based on mutual trust, on the very good understanding between His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. And I will convey best wishes to His Majesty from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin as we meet with him today.

09.09.2017 - Briefing by Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova, Moscow, September 8, 2017

We have also taken note that the press service of the US State Department has repeatedly said that the only aim the US really seeks is to establish normal relations with Russia and, of course normalisation of the whole range of bilateral ties and contacts. How does everything that is happening on the territory of the Russian Federation building, which used to house the Russian General Consulate in San Francisco, contribute to normalising the situation? Why are people whom we do not know and whom no one has invited there engaged in who knows what? Do they also “contribute to the normalisation of bilateral relations”? Who sent them there? For what purpose? What are they doing there? Why do they feel like they can make themselves at home there? It is the property of the Russian Federation. What are US citizens doing there?

In June 2017, the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) signed the SCO Convention on Countering Extremism, which will help strengthen the international legal framework to address new challenges and threats as well as increase the effectiveness of cooperation between relevant authorities of the member states and to improve legislation in this area.

07.09.2017 - No alternative to a peace settlement on the Korean Peninsula (by Ambassador Yakovenko for RT)

Russia is deeply concerned over the situation on the Korean Peninsula, where confrontation is moving into its hottest phase than ever before. North Korea continues to violate UN Security Council resolutions.

07.09.2017 - The West’s counter-ISIS efforts cost Iraq and Syria dearly (by Ambassador Yakovenko for RT)

According to the UN, mass media and NGOs, as a result of air and artillery strikes by the US-led counter-ISIS coalition in Syria, hundreds, perhaps thousands of civilians have died. The number of refugees and temporarily displaced persons from Raqqa has reached 200,000. At present, there are still 25,000-40,000 civilians in the city, which until 2013 was inhabited by almost 300,000 people.

07.09.2017 - Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova’s comment on the seizure of Russian diplomatic buildings by US authorities

We have taken note of the awkward attempts by US representatives to justify the unceremonious decision to seize Russian diplomatic property on September 2 in an attempt to give them the appearance of "legitimacy." However, there can be no justification for such outrageous actions.

06.09.2017 - Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at a meeting with Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, Vladivostok, September 5, 2017

We have things to discuss, primarily from the point of view of implementing the agreements reached during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to St Petersburg between July 1-3 of this year and the recent contacts between our leaders in Xiamen on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. I am really interested in considering today the further promotion of our bilateral agenda as well as joint work concerning international issues in the context of the special, privileged strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and India.

05.09.2017 - Vladimir Putin’s news conference following BRICS Summit

I believe that the presence of UN peacekeepers, not even peacekeepers, but those who provide security for the OSCE mission, is quite appropriate and I do not see anything wrong with that; on the contrary, I believe that this would help resolve the situation in southeastern Ukraine. Of course, we can talk only about ensuring the security of the OSCE staff. This is my first point.
