Victory Day in Derby

On the 9th May at a ceremony in Derby the representatives of the Russian Embassy presented Ushakov Medals to British veterans, who were awarded these honours for their personal courage and bravery displayed during their service in the Arctic Convoys in WWII.

Wreaths laid at the Dundee International Submarine Memorial in Scotland on the Victory Day

On 9 May 2016 on occasion of the Victory Day the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Edinburgh Andrey Pritsepov and the Deputy Lord Provost of Dundee Christina Roberts laid wreaths at the International Submarine Memorial in Dundee. The memorial commemorates the lost crews of the Allied submarines based in Dundee during the World War II, including the crew of the Soviet submarine V-1 lost in 1944 and the Hero of the Soviet Union, captain II rank I.Fysanovich.

Wreaths laid in Errol at the Memorial to World WarTwo Soviet Pilots in Scotland

On 9 May 2016 at the Errol airfield, Perth and Kinross a wreath-laying ceremony was held at the commemorative plaque dedicated to the secret mission of the Soviet pilots of the Civil Air Fleet’s 1st Air Transportation Division (called Moscow Special Assignment Airgroup, MSAA in 1941-1942, and 10th Guards Air Transportation Division in 1944-1946 ) who were stationed here in 1943-44 to receive the British Albemarle planes.

Visit of the Consul General Mr Andrey Pritsepov to Stirling

During the visit to Stirling on 27 of April Consul General of Russia Mr Andrey Pritsepov had a meeting at the Stirling Castle with Councillor of the Stirling Council Fergus Wood, Head of Learning Services Craig Fletcher as well as the representatives of the Administration of the Castle.

Victory Day celebrated in Britain

A number of events commemorating 9 May - Day of Victory in WW2 were held in UK.

Ushakov Medal presented to the Arctic Convoys Veterans

On 5 May Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Donald MITCHELL, Mr Douglas CLARK, Mr Alan Victor LIGHTMAN, George Barry CLARKE, and Mr John Baron TAYLOR, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Embassy visit to Birmingham

On 28 April diplomats of the Russian Embassy visited Birmingham, presenting "Illuminated chronicles of Ivan the Terrible" to the University of Birmingham Library, which received books with gratitude. Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Konstantin Shlykov presented Ushakov Medals and "70th anniversary of the Victory" medals for the Arctic Convoys veterans of Birmingham and surrounding areas. Lord Mayor Raymond Hassall, host of the event, made a welcoming speech. The event was attended by representatives of local Russian community associations Elena Denezhkina and Nadezhda Loginova, awarded with special Letters of Recognition of Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko.

Ambassador Yakovenko visits “The Empress and the Gardener” exhibition at Hampton Court Palace

On 27 April 2016 Russian Ambassador Dr Alexander Yakovenko visited the grand opening of the new “The Empress and the Gardener” exhibition at Hampton Court Palace produced in partnership with the State Hermitage Museum.

Consul General attends children’s workshop

Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrey A.Pritsepov attended on 15 of April a creative workshop for children which was a part of the preparations for an exhibition of the Russian artist Dina Mackins, which will be opened at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh on 1 of June – the World Children’s Day.
