Ushakov Medal presented to the Arctic Convoys Veterans

On 1 March Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr William John ALLEN, Mr John William THACKER, Mr Anthony ROBINSON, Mr Peter William BACKHOUSE, Mr Philip Oliver GODBOLD and Mr Eric Douglas BOON, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko visits GRAD gallery

On 24th February Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko visited GRAD, gallery for Russian art and design, to celebrate the opening of the exhibition “Unexpected Eisenstein”. Many guests attended the event, among them Mr Mikhail Shvydkoy, Special Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation for international cultural cooperation, Mr Vladimir Grigoriev, Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication, multiple celebrities and cultural personalities.

Сross Russia-UK Year of Language and Literature opened in London

On 25 of February Russia-UK Year of Language and Literature was launched with the performance of famous Russian violinist Vadim Repin at Royal Festival Hall. Mr Repin interpreted a new score for the film "Love" starring Greta Garbo and John Gilbert, written by composer Aphrodite Raickopoulou. The film is an adaptation of "Anna Karenina" novel by Leo Tolstoy.

On 22 February Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to NATO Mr Alexander Grushko spoke at RUSI on the current challenges facing Russia-NATO relations. This event addressed the common security objectives on both sides and the importance of the Russia-NATO relationship as an aspect of the Euro-Atlantic security framework.

Dmitry Masleev performs at the Russian Embassy in London The triumphant winner of XV International Tchaikovsky Competition (2015) Dmitry Masleev performed at the Russian Embassy in London on 18 February 2016. The guests enjoyed the music of P.I.Tchaikovsky, N.K.Metner, S.Rachmaninov and F.Liszt. The concert, attended by diplomats, business and culture personalities and prominent members of the Russian diaspora, was followed by a reception.
