Ushakov medals presented to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Colchester

On 27 November Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Vadim Retuynskiy, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Oleg Shor and Assistant Naval Attaché Commander Dmitry Sharapov presented the Ushakov medals to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys at a ceremony in Colchester. Participants of the ceremony, which took place at Colchester Town Hall, were warmly welcomed by Madam Mayor of Colchester.

Ushakov medals presented to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Nottingham

On 24 November Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy Sergei Belyakov, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mrs Elizaveta Vokorina, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Oleg Shor, and Assistant Naval Attaché Commander Igor Elkin presented the Ushakov medals to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys at a ceremony in Nottingham. Participants of the ceremony, which took place at Nottingham City Council, were warmly welcomed by Lord Mayor of Nottingham Councillor Jackie Morris and the Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council Councillor Sybil Fielding. Speaking on behalf of the Russian Government, Mrs Elizaveta Vokorina thanked the veterans for their invaluable contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany. Over 100 guests, including veterans’ families, representatives of the local authorities and press took part in the ceremony.

IMO reception at the Embassy

On 24 November the Russian Embassy hosted a reception dedicated to the IMO Assembly being held these days in London. Russian Deputy Minister for transport Viktor Olersky addressed the guests.

Chess match between Russian Embassy and Reform Club teams

On 20 November the Russian Embassy in London hosted a chess match with the team of the Reform Club. It was the second game, as the first match was played in July at the Club in Pall Mall. The guests were given a tour of the Ambassador's residence and the Embassy building and took a "family photo". The games, held with time control, ended in favour of host side. The evening continued as a friendly meeting.

UK-Russia Business Forum “Bilateral Cooperation and Internationalisation of Small and Medium Enterprises”

More than 150 representatives of Russian and British companies, governmental bodies, business associations, development and financials institutions and regional authorities took part in the UK-Russia Business Forum “Bilateral Cooperation and Internationalization of Small and Medium Enterprises” which was held on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Russian Trade Mission (Delegation) in the United Kingdom. The event was organized in London by the Russian Trade Delegation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Russian Agency for Small and Medium Business Support and the Mission of Rossotrudnichestvo on 16-18 November. The Forum was supported and sponsored by a wide range of UK and Russian businesses and organizations which includes Installog, SCHNEIDER GROUP, Business Services International UK, Russian National Tourist Office, Jupiter Incorporated (vodka brand “Baikal”), Center for Corporate Medicine, Greater London Enterprise and Russo-British Chamber of Commerce.

On 14 November Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Mr Alexander Kramarenko, Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Mr Alexander Udod, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mrs Elizaveta Vokorina, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Oleg Shor, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Elena Gorshkova and Assistant Naval Attaché Commander Dmitry Sharapov presented the Ushakov medals to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys at a ceremony in Coventry.

On 12 November Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Kenneth Alfred STEVENS, Mr John Wilfred Harper Fullerton DICKIE, Mr Malcolm Stuart BEESTON, Mr Norman William COSFORD, Mr Anthony Clifford PARSONS and Mr Arthur John BLASDALE, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

Students of Russian school "Znaniye" presented exams certificates at the Russian Embassy

On 12 November the Embassy hosted the presentation of Russian language exams certificates to the students of the educational centre Znaniye (Knowledge). In 2015, a total of 24 Znaniye students passed GCSE exams, 28 took AS exams and 22 took A2 exams. The results of their A-levels tests have helped them to enter Britain's best universities.

Remembrance Sunday at Soviet War Memorial

On 8 November 2015 a traditional ceremony of wreath laying took place at the Soviet War Memorial in London, near the Imperial War Museum. The solemn act was attended by the Mayor of Southwark, representatives of the UK Parliament and borough council, Embassies of Russia and other nations, British veterans of the Arctic convoys and non-government organizations.
