On 4 December 2015 during a visit to the BioCity Scotland the Russian Consul General Mr Andrey Pritsepov discussed with the Managing Director Dr Diane Harbison the role of BioCity Scotland and prospects of bilateral cooperation.

British Arctic Convoys veterans from Derbyshire, Northwich and Stockport receive Ushakov medals

On 5-6 December British veterans from from Derbyshire, Northwich and Stockport were presented the Ushakov medals for their personal courage and bravery displayed during their service in the Arctic Convoys in WWII by Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Vadim Retyunskiy: Mr Jack Ernest Goddard, Mr Frank Brown (the medal was presented to his son Mr John Brown) and Mr Gerard Henniker (the medal was presented to his son Mr Henniker, not pictured).

British Arctic Convoys veterans from Poole area receive Ushakov medals

On 5-6 December British veterans from Poole area were presented the Ushakov Medals for their personal courage and bravery displayed during their service in the Arctic Convoys in WWII, by Counsellor of the Russian Embassy Mr. Konstantin Shlykov: Mr. Tom Trelawney LAWRENCE (on behalf of Mr. Lawrence the medal was presented to Mrs. Sophie Lawrence, not pictured), Mr. Dennis Wyndham FOSTER and Mr. Thomas Frederick William DEAN.

St Andrew – Patron Saint of Russia and Scotland – celebrated in Edinburgh

On 28 November 2015 Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh participated in a number of events honouring St Andrew who is the shared Patron Saint of Russia and Scotland. Traditionally, the day is widely celebrated across Scotland, being seen as Scotland’s national day.

The 70th Anniversary of the 1945 Glasgow Rangers FC – FC Dynamo Moscow celebrated in Scotland

On 28 November 2015 the 70th Anniversary of the historic game played by Glasgow Rangers FC and FC Dynamo Moscow. This very important match took place on 28 November 2015 and was the final game of a series played by Dynamo in the United Kingdom to celebrate the Victory in the World War II and the war-time Alliance of the two nations. The score was a 2-2 draw – “Friendship won”.

On 27 November 2015 during his visit to the University of Dundee Russian Consul General in Edinburgh Mr Andrey Pritsepov discussed with the Principal of the University of Dundee Professor Pete Downes prospects of bilateral cooperation and visited UK’s largest Drug Discovery Unit.

Speech by Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko at the reception marking the opening of the Eastern Seasons

Ladies and gentlemen, It's a pleasure for me to host the inauguration of the Easyern Seasons here at the Embassy. This is the first time this event is happening, but I believe that with the goodwill and dedication of BSI group and valuable support of their partners it will become one of the highlights of the rich London cultural scene. I commend the effort to bring together business people, personalities of culture and sports to establish new connections between our countries, which acquires special value in times of political turmoil.

Ushakov medals presented to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Colchester

On 27 November Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Vadim Retuynskiy, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Oleg Shor and Assistant Naval Attaché Commander Dmitry Sharapov presented the Ushakov medals to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys at a ceremony in Colchester. Participants of the ceremony, which took place at Colchester Town Hall, were warmly welcomed by Madam Mayor of Colchester.

Ushakov medals presented to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys in Nottingham

On 24 November Third Secretary of the Russian Embassy Sergei Belyakov, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mrs Elizaveta Vokorina, Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Oleg Shor, and Assistant Naval Attaché Commander Igor Elkin presented the Ushakov medals to British veterans of the Arctic Convoys at a ceremony in Nottingham. Participants of the ceremony, which took place at Nottingham City Council, were warmly welcomed by Lord Mayor of Nottingham Councillor Jackie Morris and the Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council Councillor Sybil Fielding. Speaking on behalf of the Russian Government, Mrs Elizaveta Vokorina thanked the veterans for their invaluable contribution to the defeat of Nazi Germany. Over 100 guests, including veterans’ families, representatives of the local authorities and press took part in the ceremony.

IMO reception at the Embassy

On 24 November the Russian Embassy hosted a reception dedicated to the IMO Assembly being held these days in London. Russian Deputy Minister for transport Viktor Olersky addressed the guests.
