Ushakov Medals presented to British veteran of the Arctic Convoys at the Russian Embassy

On 30 of October the British veterans of the Arctic Convoys Mr William Ronald ALDOUS and Mr Gearge LANGRIDGE were presented the Ushakov Medals by Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr Oleg Shor.

On 29 October Attaché of the Embassy Oleg Shor presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr Stanley Charles BOOBYER, Mr Sydney Raymon HILL, Mr George Robert WATMORE, Mr Bernard Johnson MAINSTONE, Mr Francis Joseph POULTON, Mr Reginald Claude HALL, Mr Ronald Ernest RANK, Mr Samuel George WOODWORTH, Mr Leonard Charles CROSS, Mr Gerald John BIDDISCOMBE and Mr Geoffrey Reid HEMM, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

On 24 October Third secretary of the Embassy Vitaliy Zubkov presented the Ushakov medals to the Arctic Convoys veterans Mr John Nestor Dane MEADE, Mr William BELL, Mr William REAY and Mr Alfred John ATKINSON, who were awarded this military honour by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for their personal courage and bravery displayed in WWII.

On 19 of October the British veteran of the Arctic Convoys Mr. Ernest William WALDOCK was presented the Ushakov Medals by Attaché of the Russian Embassy Mr. Oleg Shor. On behalf of Mr Waldock the medal was presented to assistant to Ben Wallace MP.

“Crimean Stories” exhibition opened in London

Official opening of the exhibition of the works by young artists “Crimean Stories” has taken place at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo on October 13, 2015. The exhibition of paintings and graphics was organized by the Charitable Foundation “Russian Arts Help” headed by Olga Nikolayevna Adamishina.

Russian Ambassador’s Residence got restored antique clocks

On 12 October renewed antique French clocks came back to the Russian Ambassador’s Residence after a restoration by horologist Roy Clement (Pendulum of Mayfair). Thanks to his efforts all clocks are in excellent condition now.

The Mikhail Lermontov Statue Unveiled in Scotland

On 3 October 2015 the statue of the great Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov was unveiled in Earlston. The sculpture is the first monument in Scotland dedicated to a Russian literary figure, and the project was made possible thanks to the efforts and devotion of Ms Maria Koroleva, who represents the Lermontov family, the Chairperson of The Friends of Thomas the Rhymer Group Ms Gwen Hardie and the Chair of Earlston Community Council Mr John Paton-Day.
