Talking points of Ambassador Alexander Yakovenko at Eastern Seasons reception, 3 December 2016

Ladies and gentlemen,

A warm welcome to all of you here at the reception to mark the second year of the Eastern Seasons week of events. The Russian Embassy in the UK is very happy to support this ambitious project in its aim to create a platform for people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds to meet and collaborate on business matters, in sports activities and through cultural experiences.

In times of instability and discord we turn to eternal values which are so well represented in the season carefully prepared by BSI. I'm confident that British, Russian and all other guests will make new friends, conceive new projects and see each other in a new, more human way. I also hope that after the success of last and this year's Eastern Seasons they will become a good London tradition and a new meeting place for those who achieved success but still want more - to make the world a better place. We are glad Eastern Seasons share our mission to bring people together, as they provide great opportunities for communication and collaboration.

This week's economic forum showed great willingness of the British business community to go back to normal with Russia. This is our desire as well. Let's work for it to happen.

Thank you and welcome!
